Our founder
Bishop Obadiah Colander
Our Founder, the late Bishop Dr. Obadiah Colander, was a philanthropist whose life work of caring for the less fortunate, providing housing, instilling education, and advancing others strongly impacted his family, ministry, and local members within the community. His work has included assisting with closing the ditches within his local community, section eight housing, an AED/GED training center, the FTMA Bible Institute, funded wells in Africa, Kings Kids of America, P.R.E.V.E.N.T., Sisters with Pride, and the development of partial electric bill payments, to name a few. His motto was to have something in your head, heart, and wallet. He encouraged education completion, homeownership, and supporting one another with compassion. He was affectionately known to provide counsel to all who requested, from community citizens to government officials. His legacy still lives on in the hearts and lives of his children, grandchildren, and spiritual sons and daughters today.

The Nissi House Program is a sanctuary for women who have experienced domestic violence, providing them with a safe haven, healing, and empowerment. Our program offers shelter, counseling, life skills training, and job support to help survivors rebuild their lives with confidence. At Nissi House, we believe every woman deserves a fresh start and the resources to thrive in the real world.
